Jarred Alterman is an award winning cinematographer and filmmaker who has worked in documentary, narrative, music & art related projects for over twenty years. He won best cinematography at Tribeca for the film Contemporary Color, (dir. Bill & Turner Ross) featuring David Byrne.
He lensed two films that were NY Times critics picks: Bisbee ’17 (dir. Robert Greene) and The Proposal (dir. Jill Magid).
Recent credits include Nanfu Wang’s In the Same Breath, Michelle Obama’s Becoming, (dir Nadia Hallgren) NY Times: The Weekly, Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix and Generation Hustle on HBO MAX.
He produced and lensed Walled Unwalled directed by aural investigator and artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan, which played at New York Film Festival, TIFF and won a Turner Prize at the Tate Modern. He has worked with Charles Atlas, Merce Cunningham, Arcade Fire and regularly shoots for Art:21.
